Purple Lingzhi/Reishi
Purple Lingzhi/Reishi (Ganoderma sinense) is a polypore fungus with a corky texture and bitter flavour. Many Ganoderma species are regarded as potent folk-medicinal mushrooms, traditionally brewed into a tea and/or steeped in alcohol to extract compounds believed to promote health and longevity. Modern science is establishing potent medicinal applications for such extracts. In particular, Purple Lingzhi/Reishi is used as an adjunctive medication during cancer treatment in China. Both basic and preclinical studies showed that Purple Lingzhi/Reishi has antitumor, antioxidant, anticytopenia, and unique mushroom-poison detoxification properties that are different from that of Red Lingzhi/Reishi. Fresh Reishi is easier and quicker to use than when dried.

Ganoderma sinense, aka Purple Lingzhi/Reishi: steep for 1 month in alcohol, agitating daily, then separate and simmer for 2 hours in water to create a 'dual extract tincture', or simply make a tea. Folk-medicinal, but with clinical trials and established medicinal uses outside Canada.
